Violin & Viola Lessons

Teaching music is so much more than learning to play difficult concertos and winning every audition. I enjoy the challenge of working with the student as an individual. My students will learn critical thinking skills and they will gain confidence through the hard work of consistency. They will learn how great it feels to work on a long-term project…whether that is Twinkle or a Concerto. They will learn how to practice and perform, all the while developing skills that will carry over into all areas of their lives.

“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.”
― Shinichi Suzuki

Private Lessons at my home in Hudson

30, 45 & 60 minute lessons weekly. In-person lessons are ideal, but online zoom lessons are a great option.

Private Lessons at the Conservatory of Music

In addition to teaching privately out of my home, I also teach at the Conservatory of Music at Hudson Montessori School. Click on the button below to learn more about the offerings at COM@HMS.

Group Classes

I offer Group Classes taught in the traditional Suzuki method. Click below to register for beginner Group Class. This summer I will offer two groups for Book 1 & 2 Students. For more advanced students, I offer Studio Classes which give students performance opportunities and a chance to learn to critique their peers in a positive way. Contact me directly for Studio Class registration info.

Audition Prep

A la carte lessons meant to help students prepare for an upcoming audition.

Teaching Tutorials for Beginners

During quarantine, I dove into the world of online teaching. At the time, I was starting several beginners. I made these videos to help the parents practice with their young beginners at home. Even though we are back to (mostly) in-person lessons, these videos can be helpful practice tools.

Check out my YouTube Channel for all of my teaching videos.

This extended time home has allowed everyone some extra opportunities also. If any of your children play violin or viola and are interested in lessons, Cale and Adelyn have been taking violin lessons on Zoom from Jenny Walvoord since March 20 and are really progressing well in this new format! Cale is starting from Suzuki Method book 1 and Adelyn is doing pre-book 1 exercises. This can be done no matter where you live! Jenny is an excellent musician and I highly recommend her!
